THE ALPACA
LIFESTYLE |

Our
jobs are high stress jobs; James, is a therapist working with abused children and troubled
families, and Leslie, is an Emergency Medical Technician. Needless to say, our lives are
fairly stimulating. Alpacas, which could have been "just one more thing" have
provided wonder, fun, relaxation, tax breaks, and friendship.
The Alpaca is said to be "a miracle from the Almighty". They really can change
your life. They are a gentle, shy and submissive animal that cannot be forced or handled
roughly. They require the owner to be calm, patient, and relaxed. Something Leslie and I
really enjoy.
Go to the National Alpaca site at www.aoba.org for a good discussion on the Tax advantages
of of this business. Even though the tax advantages are great, the investments we make in
the development of an improved animal, a fiber industry, and our own well-being are the
things with which we find the most satisfaction .
Being connected is important for everyone. The Alpaca industry is made up of some really
nice and fun people. Home, regional, area, and national conventions and shows give us the
opportunity to meet many fun and wonderful people who also own Alpacas. This is not a
lifestyle for hermits and ogres.
Continue to look around these pages. The Current Market area describes the prices animals
have sold for the past year or two. The Investment area describes some suggestions on how
to get started in this lifestyle. Better yet, give us a call and make an appointment to
visit our ranch and listen to our girls hum. |
